Our Mission Is Clear
To make the world a better place by building great software for companies doing great things.
What We Do
We’re a software development firm that specializes in web and mobile applications for progressive and forward thinking clients.
How We Do It
We use cutting–edge, open source tools like Ruby on Rails to reduce our clients’ costs and accelerate their time to market.
Why?
We believe we can positively affect change by helping like–minded companies be successful.
Showcase
Not Me Diabetes
Full lifecycle project, Ruby on Rails
Problem: Contracted by United Health Group/OptumHealth to build an online system to deliver a diabetes prevention and control program that will scale to millions of people across the country.
Solution: We introduced agile software development practices and built a web application used by hundreds of people internally, at YMCAs accross the country as well as pharmacies like Albertsons and Rite-Aid.
Red Stamp
e-Commerce, User Interface, Ruby on Rails
Problem: RedStamp.com sells stationery and other card products from an ever evolving designer list and inventory base. Beyond that they needed a highly dynamic card personalization engine.
Solution: Software for Good built a custom e–Commerce engine, content management system, and personalization engine to support their operations.
Meeteor
Virtual Training, Group Collaboration, eLearning
Problem: On–site sales training meetings are becoming a target for corporate budget cuts. Meeteor wants to provide companies with a way to do training meetings in a virtual setting, without sacrificing the benefits you get from on–site meetings.
Solution: We built a highly dynamic eLearning, training and collaboration platform that allowed meeting admins the ability to ‘push’ training modules to all members of the workshop. In this way, the learners were constantly being engaged and challenged with interactive games, quizzes and polls. We utilized Ruby on Rails, and web ‘push’ technology.
mnovarian.org
Pro Bono, Wordpress, Design
Problem: Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance's website was old and tired and not efficiently communicating the message of ovarian cancer awareness.
Solution: Software for Good designed, built and deployed a fresh new look on the Wordpress content management system giving the organization the ability to keep ongoing events up to date. Software for Good continues to work with MOCA today.
Enhanced Learning Network
Web 2.0 eLearning, Start–up Consulting
Problem: The Master Mind Group’s goal is to create a superior eLearning platform to host video courses for the Dunwoody Residential Energy Auditor Course. The secondary requirement was to not have any extra bloat like traditional eLearning software.
Solution: Software for Good advised the client to focus on a Customer Driven Development approach, building only the pieces of functionality that will make up a Minimum Viable Product. Doing this, Software for Good built a minimal eLearning platform to host eLearning courses, videos and assessments. In addition we built a “proctored test management application” used by Dunnwoody College for administering Residential Energy Auditor Exams.
Kayengeyenge Foundation
Non–profit, Wordpress, PHP
Problem: Kayengeyenge Foundation needed a place to stay in touch with donors, display recent meeting correspondence, display photos, and solicit donations.
Solution: We worked closely with the client to define, design and build a custom Wordpress content management system to allow foundation curators to publish fresh content, photos and receive donations.
MBioEX — Mpls Biomass Exchange
Custom Biomass Trading Platform
Problem: MBioEX's goal is to build the eBay for biomass.
Solution: Software for Good partnered with MBioEX to brand, design and build a custom trading platform. We utilized Google maps and various distance calculations to provide detailed views of individual biomass loads.
ActivityScout.com
Ruby on Rails, Activity Listing Tool
Problem: Finding activities for children to do is a daunting task since each organization has their own activity registry, and typically very painful to navigate.
Solution: Software for Good built a very clean activity aggregator and search utility.
National Down Syndrome Congress
Non–profit, Registration Application, Project Rescue
Problem: The NDSC’s legacy conference registration tool was abandoned by a previous company. They needed someone to take it over and updated it for the 2010 national conference.
Solution: Software for Good came to the rescue and made the necessary changes and bug fixes to capture registrations and payments for the 2010 national conference. We continue to work with the NDSC on a pro–bono basis.

What our clients are saying
Many thanks for your ‘legacy work’... I call it ‘legacy’ [because] in my culture, the word has a deeper significance than the Webster definition; it is a signature to your fellow human beings. It is forever and does not lose value. Software for Good helped the Keyengeyenge Foundation join the modern world and benefit from the technology of the 21st century.

Start–up Consulting
We will help you to take your project from initial concept all the way to launching a complete and useable site. Your plans, goals, and needs may change after our initial consultation. Software for Good gets that. We place an emphasis on customer collaboration and communication over contract negotiation; individuals and interaction over processes and tools.
What our clients are saying
I've worked with Software for Good off and on for several years. Casey and his team are fast, reliable, and fun to work with. When I engage with Software for Good on a project, it’s one less thing I have to worry about — Software for Good always exceeds my expectations.
Ethos
Triple Bottom Line
Software for Good subscribes to the Triple Bottom Line business model: people, planet, profit. We feel that the needs of our business overlaps the needs of our environment and society. Basically, if our people aren’t happy and healthy, and our planet isn’t able to sustain our people, then our business will eventually become unsustainable as well.
People
Human Capital. More than just treating our team members right (which we do), this is about reinvesting in the community — both the software development community and the community at large. We are proud to donate time, money and support to socially benefiting causes and organizations.
Planet
Natural Capital. Our efforts to reduce our ecological impact are ongoing and growing. We’re passionate about all things local, sustainable and environmentally responsible. When the goals of a business align with the needs of the planet, everybody wins.
Profit
Honest Profit. We recognize that a business must be profitable in order to remain viable, but Software for Good feels that profit made in harmony with People and Planet is so much more rewarding. We don’t work to line our pockets. We simply believe that honest, hard work deserves the appropriate compensation.
